Fluency Video
How do we develop fluency?
*Learn sight words.
*Learn to decode (sound out words).
*Read and re-read the same text over and over.
*Listen to fluent readers. They use tones to express feelings, they pause at commas, and stop at periods, and they intonate to show different types of punctuation. Voices go up at the end of a question; voices are excited for exclamation marks.
WHY IS FLUENCY IMPORTANT?
Fluency is the bridge between recognizing words and understanding the meaning of the text.
Here is some information from Reading Rockets about the importance of fluency.
